At “Brief Lives - Remembered” we support long ago bereaved families by tracing their baby’s resting place.
We have had much success in the time since we introduced this as part of our work. Many of the bereaved parents/relatives who have been able to trace their baby’s grave have told us that they feel relieved, and more at peace. They feel they are finally able to grieve and say goodbye to their baby, and feel a sense of closure.
There is no fee for the search, however the family would be asked to pay cost towards certificates, cemetery searches etc. No order will be placed without consultation with the family.
Helping us to help you
We only except requests from the parents of the deceased baby. If the baby was stillborn, you will need to have a stillbirth certificate (this is not a guarantee that the baby will be found).
We will take requests from a twin sibling, however only if the twin has a death or stillbirth certificate for their deceased twin.
It is really important to be accurate with the information you give us.
Dates need to be as near as possible, we will not take on a search if for example you do not know the year the baby was stillborn or died in.
If you are unsure of the date of stillbirth or birth and death, we would advise that you apply for a certificate/s from the general register office in Southport. If the baby was stillborn or died in Scotland, you will need to contact Scotlands People and if your baby was born in ireland the General Register office for Ireland. Details can be found below...
We do ask that we are the only persons/organisation conducting the search., this includes family members.
If you have already been searching; we will need to be informed of places and people who you have contacted, so that we do not repeat what has already been done.
Please note this is a free service and we invest a lot of time into searching for a baby’s resting place. If for any reason you change you mind and would like us to stop, please be courteous and let us know as soon as possible, so that we can help the next person on the waiting list.
If you wish to discuss any of these points, please feel free to contact us via the "Contact Page".
